muM’S TIN

My parents had a very strong marriage. They met when Mum was only 16 and went on to have five children. when Dad died unexpectedly at 56 , we were absolutely devastated. mum especially so. we recently discovered that Since his passing, whenever mum saw a white feather, she would pick it up and put it in a tin which she always kept close to her as a symbol of dad’s presence.

Co-incidentally I made a series of glass feathers for an art installation to be shown alongside the Thames and decided to give Mum one for Christmas.  she was delighted with it and this is when the tin was first mentioned.

after showing her sister-in-law’s and various family and friends, I was immediately being asked for feathers to commemorate births, weddings and of course, lost ones.

it was then we realised that lots of people may want something precious to remember something or someone special.

in memory of our beloved dad and grandpa

thank you for the fantastic feather... we absolutely love it and will treasure it!
